About this Photo
Mothership Connection seemed like the only soundtrack for this frame.
The skybridge linking the car park to Chicago's John Hancock Center (now known as 875 North Michigan Avenue) feels like a portal suspended between worlds, part architecture, part spacecraft, part promise that something lies on the other side.
When Parliament released Mothership Connection in 1975, Parliament and George Clinton weren't just making a funk record. They built an entire mythology, turning a bridge between Earth and the cosmos into a celebration of imagination, freedom and possibility.
This bridge isn't carrying passengers to a mothership, but for a moment, it feels like it could.
